The Secret of the Old Clock is the first volume in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series written under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene.
SUMARY
Sixteen-year-old Nancy Drew
wishes to help the Turners, who are struggling relatives of the recently
deceased Josiah Crowley. Aided along the way by
Helen Corning, she becomes
interested in the case because she dislikes his snobbish "nouveau-riche" social-climbing heirs presumptive, the Tophams. Interviewing
various Crowley relatives and friends, Nancy learns from an injured old lady
that Crowley hinted that the clue to his will would be found in the family clock.
MEETING
The meeting was 19th of April, Tuesday, during break time.
The book club formed by seven students and two teachers discussed about this
book. All of us agreed that the book was very easy to read, in fact, in USA the
book is written for kids ages 8 to 12.
However, because of that the book becomes a little predictable, even the
end of it. The book was rewritten in 1959 and due to this you will find nothing
about cell phones or computers, so
different to the present moment of the students that they didn't feel
identified with Nancy, the main character. Anyway, if you love mysteries, then
surely, you will enjoy this book.
